Many things must be done before the arrival of a new baby. They did everything from baby-proofing their home to reading up on pregnancy and postpartum topics to decorating the nursery and stocking up on essentials like diapers and wipes. We hope our list of Patpat’s Newborn Must-Haves for your newborn’s wardrobe may be helpful in some little way as you prepare for parenthood.
If you stick to our guide on the most important clothing items for a baby, your child will always have something to wear and will look adorable doing it. We’re compiling a list of the basics that your infant will need to wear throughout the first three months because of the rapid growth that occurs in the first year. Once your newborn has grown, you can go through the same process again with a new size.
You will need no fewer than 8-10 tops to outfit your newborn baby properly. Make sure there is plenty of space around the newborn’s neck and that the opening of the top is big enough to make dressing them a breeze.
Baby pants are a necessity, and you’ll want to stock up on at least five pairs whether you’re expecting a boy or a girl. Leggings in a variety of colors would be a great option for a girl because they would allow for endless styling possibilities. Mini sweatpants are a terrific, fuss-free option for dressing a baby boy because they look and feel like regular pants. Choose fleece-lined sweatpants if you plan on wearing them this winter.
When shopping for a baby, make sure to stock up on socks; your child will need six to eight pairs in the first three months. When you take them out, you might also want to acquire two pairs of booties for them to wear.
The baby essentials list isn’t complete without a pair of mittens. Babies need to have their hands covered with mittens for the first few months of their lives to prevent them from scratching. For the first three months, stock up on four pairs of mitts.
